..and on a Thursday. Are there any more dates to come or is this it? Surely a Saturday in London is needed to round things off properly. Having the dates makes it feel very real. Maybe the slightest chance of one last London one if sales go really well, but other than that, nope, that's all for the tour. Yeah Blitz, we're idiots for assuming Brum was the last gig.

Yeah... ever since the tour was announced I always said there could be an extra date added on the end That's why I made sure it never said Birmingham was the last ever gig. (you can't blame me for not being psychic about international dates when they didn't even have any idea about those at the time)

No but you can't blame people for thinking there wouldn't be a Japanese tour after the UK one either. Thats all I'm saying.

I wouldn't... I doubt even the band expected they would be going back to Japan a few months ago.
Especially as I know I said on Bluetones twitter there were no international dates... because back when the tour was announced there wasn't any plans for it. Things change (which is why I don't like using such terms as last ever or never... you can't truthfully use them with any certainty, unless you've got a time machine).
My only point was you can't blame the band for deceivingly saying Birmingham was their last date and then adding extra ones on afterwards, because they've never said that.

Speaking of which, who is currently in possession of Windy's time machine? Clearly this is all their fault!

Why is it that I can never read these two words anymore without thinking "but a pattern is present a formula remains"? *waits for people to correct me on the lyrics*

Due to changes at the Skinny Twins festival in Sunderland (venue and lineup) the Bluetones will no longer be playing.
If anyone has already bought tickets and wants a refund then this will be available from wherever you bought your tickets. If you still want to go to the festival, then because of the lineup change meaning tickets are now cheaper, you will get a partial refund on the door.

Do we know why?

No idea, but as a lot of bands have been dropped from the lineup it does lead me to assume they booked more than they could afford and then didn't sell enough tickets.

Pity really, but it serves the geordie/mackem cunts for not turning up last time. Hopefully the promoters will be sued into oblivion and commit suicide.
HARSH but FAIR.

It's so sad that the American public were never allowed to experience The Bluetones. As a retailer I've been selling the music but never a chance to see the band live... It's over now and the pain begins.

As I'm sure you know, The Tones intended touring the US and A a while back, but it was cancelled when their manager pinched all their cash. Whilst he has been vilified ever since, nobody has ever mentioned the flip-side, namely that he worked his arse off for this band, and his reward was for them to commit showbiz suicide by releasing the dire Liquid Lips/Fast Boy as the lead single from Luxembourg, rather than Never Going Nowhere. This when they had a guaranteed slot on Top Of The Pops. I imagine the manager felt he deserved the money.
The other interesting aspect of the case is that the songs Mark wrote about it completely ruined his solo album, although ironically the money-stealing song on "A New Athens", i.e. Culling Song, is the only classic on that album.
Don't discuss - I'm right, you're wrong

Don't discuss - I'm right, you're wrong I always thought Culling Song was about the culling song from Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk. *ducks*
