Mmmm statistics to be abused then. I think the conclusion is, except for such "board Fave" songs such as teenage Jesus, broken starr etc, what these results do actually show is, throughout their legendary career, the band have made such an amazing body of work, that it is virtually impossible (bar the flawed board faves) to show accurately the bands "best" songs, ie they've done so many, the results have plateaued out. Interesting to see slight return coming last. Firstly, will they listen to the people (101 of them!) and not play it, and secondly, am I sciving from work again to write some conclusive text that indeed the bluetones songs are were and always will be legendary...I've already buried my CDs in the back garden for time team to find in a zillion years time and can't wait to wave them off with my white hanky as they step back onto that white flying transit saucer as they bow out of my life leaving a giant black hole, void of all things blue...... Ah shit, back to work.....

I don't think Broken Starr and Teenage Jesus are especially board faves (looks like Broken Starr may be a love it/hate it track), there's just one or two people on here who absolutely love them and most people aren't too bothered either way (neither are anywhere near my top favourites).
I actually consider these results to be a lot more the Bluetones fans in general rather than boardies favourites, because half the people who used to post on the old board haven't even bothered voting. Most of the votes have come from lurkers or people who just saw the link on twitter and joined for those purposes... so people we don't know and haven't met before. Their votes aren't going to be skewed by what everyone else thinks or has been said on the forums previously, but go for their personal favourites.
As for Slight Return, all the way through the last tour the band said they wouldn't play it next time... but then they didn't realise next time would be their last. I would love it if they went through with that promise, but I doubt they think they could get away with it. Plus that is the one result that really is the flawed one, because a lot of people were voting for songs they don't always play (staying away from the singles), and that's the one song they obviously will, so why would anyone bother voting it?

all fair points, though said in a slightly serious way........I merely threw in my two cents lovely, as i saw it....Not dissing your pure maths in any way. However, Broken starr cant be a love it/hate it track just because a few people on here have stated they 'hated' it (such a strong over zelous word). It 'won' by a country mile. If you applied that logic, im not keen on Snoozrenderedededed but as i didnt state that, doesn't make it taste anyless like Marmite. And SR finally got the battering it derserved................I think they should re-release it as they slope off into the yonder, but fail to actually press any music on it..........As a kinda parting gesture...... home time, laters!!!!!

Don't worry, I didn't for a moment think you were dissing it... I just always seem to sound serious.

Glad someone else agrees with me about Surrendered Mark. 1 of their worst ever songs.

So I wonder how many songs our heroes will rehearse for the tour? To help you with your guesses, consider the following:
Suede played 46 different songs over the 3 nights in Brixton. The Cure played 44 songs each night in Sydney. Belle & Sebastian rehearsed "60-70" songs for their most recent tour, and they have 12 members in the band at times!
I would think they would want to have at least 5 songs per album, and perhaps another 10 extras so that they can enjoy playing the songs themselves for the last time. That would make a bare minimum of 40 songs ready to rock.
My guess is 16.

i think a ratio of say 70% ish fixed setlist with the rest variable depending on venue, curfew (as o2 gigs have to be done by 10pm??) who's there, who's particularly requested something and what mood they are in &/or how knackered they are for each show

I can't imagine them doing a song because one person requested it... unless they were already planning on playing it anyway.
(I know Mark does occasionally on his own, but I don't think I've ever seen the band do a requested song when they haven't been playing it all tour)

i didnt mean one person, if they knew certain friends/family were at a particular gig they may play something for them, i reckon.
then again, they will play the metal version of SR just for me at yeovil......or not. one of the two, for sure.
who knows?
any word of a support band yet??

I may have been a little optimistic hoping that older pop types with a possible history of booze/substance abuse might be capable of remembering their songs.
On their last tours, Paul McCartney only played 66 different tracks, and the Rolling Stones were only able to recall a paltry 79!

If they play Putting Out Fires I will have to be removed from the building, I would imagine.
