Still feeling awfully flat after the Shepherd's Bush final gig. Can't believe that the band which has accompanied my highs and lows, and provided the soundtrack for each is not going to be there any more.
However, I will cherish the numerous great evenings, storming sets and Mark's cheeky banter. Notable memories:-
Civic Hall, Wolverhampton - the lads dressed in suits during the RTTLCS tour and cementing their place as one of my all time favourite live acts.
Sheffield Leadmill late 09 - expecting to fly album tour, and realising how fresh all of the songs still felt.
V Festival at Weston Park - can't remember the year, but arriving through the gates only to realise that they were finishing their early afternoon set and I had missed it. I was in a bad mood for the rest of the day.
Stourbridge Rock Cafe. Odd choice for a venue and we found out about the gig very late, but probably the best I have ever seen them perform. My brother raising a pint to Adam after he had nailed the solo to Fountainhead. Adam looked back at him smiled and nodded!
Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton about 5 years ago - 4 of us at the gig and one of my mates went to the bar, appeared about 10 minutes later with 8 pints, a finger dipped into each so he could carry all 8 in one journey. When asked what had taken him so long he said "I've just been for a shit"
Brum on 22nd when it all started to kick in. As luck would have it, I then found out I needed to be in London on Wednesday, so travelled down Tuesday, sorted out a ticket and a hotel and saw the curtain come down. It must have been fate.
A mate of mine confessed to being in tears after the Birmingham gig while walking back to his house late last Thursday. That's the effect they have had....
